History of Papillion – La Vista Trap Team

Established 2003

In 2003, Mark Richards recruited twenty-six junior and senior high team members creating the Papillion – La Vista Trap Team with teams from Papillion Junior High, La Vista Junior High and Papillion – La Vista High School. The team at that time was practicing at the Bellevue Rod and Gun Club.

The next year (2004) due to increased interest in trap shooting, the team moved their program to the Papillion Gun Club. With the help of Roger Campbell, Duane Maresch and Mark Richards, the 2004 season started with fifty-four team members. Papillion-La Vista South High School was also added to the Papillion-La Vista Trap Team program as it opened that year.

Over the next few years the team grew to a high of one hundred twenty-five team members. In 2007, the team had their first junior high girls squad. Rick Jones became the girls team coach and in 2008 the first girls high school team was formed for the Papillion-La Vista Trap Team.

The Papillion-La Vista Trap Team has earned many medals and trophies through the years and continues to have success at the conference and state level.
